Stiff British Upper Lip? - The Heritage Trend Returns!

The latest fashion revelations reveal that this winter is seeing the return of The Heritage Trend. It's only being heard on the grapevine at the moment, but to be honest this ain't the first time we've heard about The Heritage Trend!

So what can you do to follow heritage style this season?

Well firstly you can try to do everything in your power to follow any of the other fashion trends going on like biker chic, animal print, metallic fashion, leather, pink, shiny sequins, boho or military. If you really are struggling to find a fashion style that suits you then and only then should you probably strengthen your stiff British upper lip and seek out those heritage fashion specials.

So what actually is heritage fashion?

Anything that looks like it could easily belong in the countryside. Of course the fun part is that you can add a little twist to it, but generally heritage is all about traditional and national fashion, where it all began and the time when fashion was born into style. Tweed jackets, tweed panel dresses, tweed bags, tartan blazers, shawl collar jacket and high waisted pleated ankle length peg trousers as seen below.

Actually, there has recently been a very popular celebrity on a very popular TV show trying to sport this very same style on a weekly basis with the use of her heritage hair style. Yeah, Dannii Minogue has been very versatile with her fashion sense and has certainly had something very heritage going on with her hair style in this years X factor!

We don't totally dislike the heritage fashion trend, but we do think there's plenty of better styles out there.

Final verdict: Go for any other trend first and only when you run out of ideas maybe then think about experimenting with heritage for a day or two.

Celebrity Alexandra Burke Goes Biker Chic!

We love celebrity singer and dancer Alexandra Burke because of her personality, her dancing and her fashion style. She also has a fantastic pair of lungs on her, but just to add a little negativity we were a bit disappointed that she didn't put her singing voice into full throttle in Sundays X factor show! - However, just like Kylie if there's a few that can pull off a bit of miming and override it with fantastic dancing and star appeal then she can!

Sundays performance of Bad Boys seems to have left a bigger impression on the buying public as she's currently tipped to be leading Robbie Williams Bodies in the midweek charts by almost double.

Why not compare both videos and make up your own mind as to who should be top of the charts by the end of the week:

We are definitely liking the biker chic theme going on with her fashion style. Nice work girl!

Robbie Williams Bodies

Robbie still has some magic left but we couldn't help but feel he was trying to hard in Sundays X factor performance, looking some what old and lacking energy!

Since the show Alexandra Burke has given interviews to handbag.com and here's her interview on GMTV:

10 Quick Fashion Trends This Autumn/Winter 2009!

1. Knee Length Pencil Skirts

Just like thigh high boots, it seems that fashion is rather interestingly focusing around the lower thigh region. This fall is all about pencil skirts and skirts that drop an inch or two above or below the knee, proving in this case that well, more is most definitely less! When used correctly it just shows that we don't need short mini skirts to get that seductive and sassy look, very clever indeed.

2. Print & Animal Printed Bottoms

Prior to fall 2009 we were overloaded with solid block colour bottoms and indulgent animal print tops and blouses. Now the roles are reversing and we can expect yet more animal print and sporadic printed bottoms to grace our highstreet stores and online boutiques.

3. Metallic Fashion Trend

Bling yourself up with Gold and Silver flowing dresses with plenty of metallic shine. The sexy fashion idea of this autumn and winter but will it take off?

4. Leather & Pleather Fashion Essentials

Leather jackets, overcoats and leather skirts are big news, combining rock chic glamour and boho fashion styles! False and artificial leather named pleather is another great alternative for those who like to watch the pennies.

5. Office Work Dresses

Again sticking with the knee high theme, looking like a professional office worker with polished all in one work dresses is the way forward this season. Belt up and accessorise for maximum impact!

6. The Black & White Theme

The two colourless colours are back! Yes, black and white are understated and very clever at creating a look and finish of sheer style and sophistication. Wear costume jewellery and fashion accessories that will inject a little contrasting colour for a modern look.

7. Pink For The Girls

Barbie is now celebrating her 50th birthday so fashion designers have decided to go with the pink for girls theme. We all associate pink fashion with young youthful looks don't we?

8. Shiny Jewels

Colours of deep, rich and inviting jewel tones that shimmer and shine and are inviting on the eyes! Burgundy, Gold, teal and mocha colours that should compliment your skin tone with greys and blacks to add sophistication.

9. Fur & Knit Vests

The strong boho theme continues and lives on with knitwear and fur vests a plenty. This look is all about putting extra thought into how it will work without it actually looking like you have tried. A very difficult art to pull off, but if it works then you'll truly reap the rewards!

10. Snug & Warm Chic

Looking snug and warm has never been more fashionable! Layers of clothes and plenty of scarves with neutral tone colours should make you look super trendy and of course exceptionally warm. Good when your outdoors but may cause a few sweating issues in those indoor shopping centres.
