Purple Haze!

With the forthcoming AW10 collection arriving in the stores any time now, we can look forward to a colourful season of sumptuous velvet and lace, beautiful purples and reds – all ready in time for the party season!

So, prepared as ever (I was in the brownies once but was thrown out after 2 weeks – long story), today I’m bringing you some gorgeous purple accessories in readiness for the fabulous outfits you’re going to be blowing your rent on between now and Christmas.  Look forward to a “seeing red” blog in the not too distant future.

First up is this chunky purple bracelet, with purple circle stone link motifs and a T-bar fastening.  Bold and modern, this would suit a more futuristic outfit.  £3.99 from Seasonsonline.co.uk.

I literally did a double-take when I saw this ring, which resembles a (vampire) cat’s eye.

This purple eye silver plate glitter and diamante ring has a unique eye shaped design, with diamante crystals sprinkled around the outside.  I love this – more so because it’s only £4.99!

For something a little more delicate and understated, just like me (What?  Lucy has just spluttered into her coffee), these silver and purple crystal mini drop earrings will look beautiful, particularly if you have an updo and an elegant evening dress. Their light purple and clear crystals form flower motifs which will give your whole outfit an air of sophistication – for only £5.99.

And finally – hair fascinators have been big news all season and their popularity shows no sign of abating in the colder months, so I thought I’d feature one here, which would look great if you’re wearing a chignon or, THE AW10 hot stylethe braid.

This purple fascinator is designed in a burlesque style of a fabric layered flower, woven ribbon detail and ostrich flowers.  It has both a crocodile clip and brooch pin fastening, so you can either wear it in your hair or as an accessory, pinned to your outfit or to your clutch.  This gorgeous piece is priced at only £5.99.

So girls, top up your jewellery boxes now in time for the winter months, with some accessories in this beautiful bright and warming colour.  They’ll certainly stand out at any party – even with no Prince in sight!  (What do you mean, who’s Prince?)

New trend – chandelier earrings

Although we’re still seeing the trend for “barely there” accessories continue into AW10, chandelier earrings appear to be making a return, giving a touch of glamour to an outfit.

Whether you’re wearing an up-do for a formal event, or have opted for the more tousled surfer style which is so hot this season, chandelier earrings really can finish off your outfit.

Here’s Ivanka Trump, snapped at the 2010 Women’s Jewellery Association Awards for Excellence.  Looking gorgeous in  an aquamarine Grecian style outfit, the dress has an added bit of sparkle, thanks to the gorgeous brooch pinned to her waistline ( a great fashion tip, girls) and her stunning chandelier earrings.

To copy Ivanka’s look, I’ve chosen some pieces from Seasonsonline’s collection, which could help transform a basic LBD, or simply add a funky touch to a more casual ensemble.

These entirely crystal flutter earrings are relatively understated, yet still provide that vital drop and sparkle.  Set on a silver tone and finished with triple silver strands, they are absolute refinement and a bargain at £4.99.

If you’re looking for some earrings which will literally turn heads, these luscious green crystal and brass chandelier earrings are just the job.  Set on aged brass tone, the square motif and triple strand drops with two tone green crystal rhinestones will make you look a million dollars!  Priced at £6.99.

For a slightly rockier look, these black and white chain drop earrings are decorated with beading and feature black and silver suspended chains.  For only £3.50, you can make your look as unique as you are.

And finally, if you’re going for that vintage look, you need something understated and classy, whilst still retaining that glamour and sophistication.  So what about these fabulous purple amethyst stone long drop earrings?  I’d be inclined to wear these either with a twenties flapper-style dress or a more luxurious purple velvet/lace combo, which is set to be hot news for AW10.

The light purple crystals and mix of colourful amethyst stones merge together to form flower motifs and the glamorous long drop is created by a line of crystals and double metallic bead chain drops.  I think this is one of my most favourite pieces out of our entire earring collection and the earrings are priced at only £7.99.

Jewellery is ideal for goodie bags

Waiting in attendance at my niece’s seventh birthday party yesterday, it struck me how goodie bags always seem to contain the same sort of things – maybe a lollipop, a yo-yo, stick on tattoos or one of those windy snake things.

And I, genius that I am, wondered why mums don’t make their girl’s goodie bags just a little bit more individual?

So why not choose a girly gift from Seasonsonline, which any little diva will love?  (Sure beats a yo-yo).  With prices starting at 1.50, you may find that it’s even cheaper than trying to fill a bag with lots of small toys, which are bound to be lost or thrown away the minute they get home.

I’ve examined our stock extensively (over a coffee and a chocolate chip cookie) and found three little pieces which are ideal for pre-teens, but be sure to take a look for yourself – if you have the self-discipline not to pinch them for yourself!

These little hair bobbles in turquoise, green, yellow and lilac all have a heart and “Love” inscribed on them, making them perfect for bunches, pony tails, plaits and buns.  At £1.99, they make a great goodie bag  gift.

Still on the theme of hair (and show me which little girl isn’t obsessed by her hair?), this gorgeous pink hair band has the added bonus of a small ribbon perched on the side, a central clear glass crystal and light pink crystal sequins giving it a little sparkle, but still perfect for this age group.  Very girly and pretty.  Only £3.50.

And finally, what about this sweet red crystal heart & bow pendant bracelet?

This sparkly silver fashion bracelet has enamel and diamante flower pieces leading to a red crystal heart pendant.  A black suede bow finishes off this bracelet beautifully.  The size can be adjusted, and the jewellery comes complete with a gift pouch.  Only £4.99.

So come on girls, tell your mums!  After a great party, which would you rather go home with?  A wobbling plastic snake or another piece of fab jewellery to add to your collection?  Yeah, me too!  Just guide her to www.seasonsonline.co.uk and you’ll soon be pestered by girls asking to come to your parties!

Blooming ‘eck he’s done it!

I’m sorry to end the week on a sorrowful note ladies, but I have to inform you that we’ve lost one of our all-time favourites.

A few days ago we pondered as to how we could possibly transform ourselves into Vanessa Paradis to attract the attention of a Johnny Depp lookalike, and today we’re met with the news that his equally tasty co-star, Orlando Bloom, has gone and tied the knot.  With his Australian underwear model girlfriend, no less (well, it was never likely to be Sharon, a bakery assistant from Swansea, now was it?)

Rumour has it, although details of the wedding have been very quiet and there are no photos to show you (probably just as well), the couple appear to have tied the knot in LA and are as we speak, honeymooning somewhere fabulous, no doubt.  Our very best wishes to the happy couple…(what?)

Which leads me to ask the fateful question – who’s left on your “wish list”?

So in honour of both Mr Bloom and Mr Depp this week, I thought I’d feature some “pirate-themed” jewellery.

To start us off, how about these skull and crossbones earrings?

Perfect for either fancy dress or perhaps if you’re into the biker or goth look, these silver studs have white enamel gaping eyes and loose hanging crossbones.-  £2.99.

This unusual looking silver cuff has an Aztec design.  We’ve all been trying to figure out what it is and to me, it looks like a cow’s skull!  What do you think?  Whatever it is, it’s certainly unique and is bound to draw attention.-  £4.99.

And finally – even pirates can be glamorous sometimes!

This gorgeous silver skull and crossbones navel bananabell is decorated with multi tone diamantes.  It’s hypoallergenic and is made from titanium surgical steel and is priced at £5.99.

I’m sure you’ll agree it’s an absolute “treasure trove” of fantastic, affordable accessories, sure to make any girl a “Pretty Polly!”  Ok, I’ll stop now.

Have a great weekend, me hearties – and remember to use your time constructively.  I would recommend putting together your wish list – and a foolproof strategy, right now!

Yo ho ho – and someone pass me that bottle of rum….

The happy couple

Dreaming of holidays…

As I gaze out of the window looking for inspiration for you today, I’m enormously underwhelmed by the grey rolling clouds, windswept trees and – is that a bird and cat huddling together for warmth?

Have you booked your summer holiday yet?  I’m waiting for a last minute deal but I WILL see some sun, sea and sand before the British winter hits, I promise you!

So, all together, let’s close our eyes and picture ourselves in sunny climes, lounging on a sunbed with a mojito and a great book….there now, that’s better!

Of course, in weather like this, people often get to see the parts that our friends, colleagues and family members don’t, so make sure you’re deep cleansed, exfoliated, depilated and self tanned before you go!

If you have your navel pierced, now’s the time to splash out on some unusual jewellery, since your tummy will be on show and you’re not likely to have any rough material rubbing against you.  I’ve put together a small collection, which shows how you can vary your look with body piercings, just as much as any other accessories.

All these, and more piercing accessories can be found in the Seasonsonline store.

Obviously, you will want to keep jewellery to a minimum whilst you’re lounging around on the beach or beside the pool, but that doesn’t mean you can’t glam up your outfit, just a little.  I love these gorgeous anklets, which both help to elongate your legs and add a little sparkle to your beachwear.

You can find more of these pretty anklets on Seasonsonline but of course, as demand for them does soar in the summer months, you’d best get there quickly!

And finally, oversized sunnies are still “de rigeur”, but we’re seeing some fabulous smaller, 50s style shades coming through.  Personally, I think the latter is much more flattering to someone with a small frame, and long face, as oversized sunnies can take over your features if you’re not careful!  Here’s a small selection from Seasonsonline – which one is your favourite?

So girls – are our minds made up?  Get ready to pack your sarongs and leave this dreadful British summer behind!  All together now – we’re all going on a summer holiday, la la la…..!

What A “Diazzling” Display

See what I did there – like that title?!

Yes, the recent premiere of the film “Knight and Day” in Rio, was incredibly noisy, due to the sound of millions of camera shutters clicking and jaws hitting the floor.

The gorgeous blonde bombshell that is Cameron Diaz, didn’t let us down, with a simple LBD which somehow, magically transformed itself into a drop dead gorgeous outfit when draped over Cameron’s none too shabby figure.

See what I mean?  A skinny model just wouldn’t have the same effect, but Cameron’s toned, yet normal sized pins help her to pull off the sultry seductress look.  Well done that girl!  (Or is it well done to Rachel Zoe, her stylist?)

Like the style?  We’ve found a similar dress currently on sale at Wallis, in sizes 8, 12 and 14, reduced from £140 to £42 what a bargain!  So, if you’ve got the legs to carry something like this off, get yourself onto Wallis’ website now and snap up their remaining stock.

What also drew gasps of envy from around the office was Cameron’s necklace.

Going completely against the current trend for understated jewellery, our girl nevertheless manages to pull this off and with a simple dress like this, she understands that the outfit can hold something slightly chunkier.

If you’re looking for a bolder necklace but still want to retain that air of femininity, how about this gorgeous gold tone and pearl necklace and earring set?

The sparkling faux pearl and crystals in these pieces are guaranteed to make you look a million dollars – for only £14.99!  Great for those red carpet moments – or more realistically, just when you need to stand out.

This action comedy film has been met with mixed reviews (I’m being polite here), but nevertheless, it is premiering in London later this month.  We think it’s worth going to see, simply to examine whether they have any shots of Tom Cruise standing at the same height as Cameron (yeah, right!)

PS – regardless of how much the film brings in at the box office, it doesn’t look like Cameron’s doing too badly, having just bought a $10 million dollar, mock-English house in Hollywood.  Bless her, we’ll have a whip round later in the office to help out with ten minutes’ worth of mortgage.

Get the Asian influence

Ever thought saris are beautiful but just for Asian women?

Rubbish!  The beautiful light, floating material used to make saris is absolutely ideal for hot, sultry summers, as well as being able to accentuate a great figure, or mask any imperfections.

With European and Asian fashions and culture now merging more than ever, we are seeing saris not just in Asian-focused stores, but on the catwalk too.

This gorgeous little number somehow manages to fuse Asian with Greek, resulting in a stylish outfit which would take you right through the summer and into autumn (simply throw on a loose, long camel or chocolate coloured cardigan over the top).  It was produced by renowned designer Shrea, who seems to effortlessly manufacture wonderful outfits which could be worn at a Bollywood party, cocktail evening or at the office!  Versatility and vision are very much evident in her work.

I once saw a Caucasian woman wearing a cream sari to a wedding.  A little bit naughty, you might think – particularly as she almost outshone the bride!  She looked extremely stylish and drew many admiring glances on the day!

So on to jewellery.  I saw this necklace and thought its simplicity would match a sari with similar colouring to the one above, perfectly.

This elaborate vintage jewellery set has a distinct Asian influence but is versatile enough to be worn with any outfit.  The gold snake chain holds five brown enamel shine oval drops in a plunge.  Available from Seasonsonline for only £8.99.

And what about this gorgeous coloured embellished bead bangle?  Set in painted enamel on gold tone, these pretty beads are showcased beautifully among the white, red and turquoise colouring.  Only £4.99 from Seasonsonline.

And finally, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to show you one of our latest bangles.

This painted and embossed gold cuff in pink and turquoise is both feminine and colourful, ideal for jazzing up a casual jeans & tee combo, or for clasping around your arm to set off a beautiful sari.

So girls, if you can’t wait to go Asian, why not try another one of my secret websites?  www.tisaya.com specialises in all kinds of Asian outfits, at very reasonable prices.  Here’s one of my favourites, which could be worn for all sorts of occasions.

Butterflies - the new key jewellery pieces for Summer 2010

Seen many butterflies around this year?

Well, although they’ve been few and far between so far up here in the north east (probably drowned in the summer downpours), in the jewellery world it’s a very different story.

Grazia magazine recently brought to our attention a new range of butterfly cuffs released by jewellery designers “Dynasty”.  No huge shoulder pads here, however – Dynasty’s trademark symbol is the butterfly, in all forms, colours and designs.

Not for those on a limited budget (you can expect to pay around £100 for a butterfly cuff), and possibly not to everyone’s taste, the pieces are nevertheless undeniably eye catching.

If you want to be on trend, but don’t fancy spending a fortune on your jewellery, I’ve sourced a couple of butterfly designs especially for you!  (Aren’t I kind?)

First up is this gorgeous emerald green stone butterfly cocktail ring.  Set in silver, the green gemstones and diamantes work beautifully together, making this a real “gem” (ha!) of a ring.  Available in varying sizes from Seasonsonline for £10.99.

And what about this pretty little gold crystal butterfly band ring?  Considerably smaller and less conspicuous than the previous one, it’s ideal for those who are happier with understated elegance, or perhaps a younger girl.  Its topaz crystals give it a little bling without being too showy.  Available from Seasonsonline at £4.99.

And finally, a real showstopper of a necklace!

This silver butterfly crystal statement jewellery set is a little more expensive at £24.99 but boy will it turn heads!  The abundance of Swarovski-style crystals meet together in a stunning butterfly design, then form gorgeous strand drops.  Definitely one for that “function”!

The intricate patterning and delicate composition of a butterfly has meant that it has always been associated with femininity.  For this reason, it has always been a favourite design of jewellers.

If you’d like to see more butterfly designs in our Seasonsonline store, please do just drop me a line.  I’m forever on the lookout for pieces which are both unusual and which I just know you’ll love, so keep me informed.  I especially like to find jewellery which is similar to those budget-busting designs you see in fashion magazines, so will be sure to keep you updated!
