Prepare for a rant.
A couple of interesting newspaper articles (not the Daily Mirror, it’s safe to say) recently have commented on how, in this time of economic hardship, we show no sign of slowing down our spend on jewellery.
Nevertheless, my flabber was well and truly gasted when I came across a clipping about celebrity jeweller Theo Fennell, who supplies pieces to Elton John and Naomi Campbell.
Theo, bless him, is taking into account our current financial hardship, by launching a lower priced line of silver jewellery, and I quote: “to make the brand affordable for the average consumer”. Well done him! Unfortunately, as average consumers, we’ll have to fork out anywhere between £70 and £200 for this “cheaper” range, as shown below.
Are you kidding me?
The “average consumer” that I know is normally either unemployed or struggling to balance the finances of a growing family. She may be in the fortunate position of being able to go out one night at the weekend but has to watch her pennies.
Don’t worry though girls – we’re here!
So, if you can take time out from your spa treatment and your lunch date at The Ivy, I thought I’d show you a couple of gorgeous pieces which have just come in, and which I know you’ll love.
The great thing about this crystal flower ring is its simplicity. You can wear it with absolutely anything and it’ll add a little understated sparkle to your hand. Classy and elegant – and only £4.99 from Seasonsonline.
With a diamond shape design, these clear crystals really stand out if you have an up-do. They’re available from Seasonsonline for only £4.99.
So who says you have to spend a fortune to look stylish? Diamante crystals are now so real-looking that it often takes a close examination to decide whether they’re actual diamonds or not – so only you will know! For goodness’ sake, don’t spend a fortune on designer jewellery unless you can truly afford it. You’ll be happier knowing that you’re looking great and you still have money to spare. And your bank manager will certainly be happier!
