Fast forward to AW10

So what’s going to be hot in the chilly months ahead?

Catwalk shows have indeed revealed some strong and stylish trends (if, like me, you choose to ignore the woolly socks and stilettos look – I kid you not).

First up are cape coats.  Now, let’s be honest, capes look beautifully tailored and can enhance any outfit regardless of whether you’re wearing jeans or a cocktail dress.  The problem is of course, in the chilly British winter (particularly if we have another one like we did last year!) there are no sleeves to keep you warm!  My advice if you’re wearing a cape is to accessorise it with another hot trend which we’ll see coming through – elbow-length gloves.

Elbow-length gloves will not only keep you warm and toasty but add more than a touch of elegance to a well-styled outfit.

One of my favourite looks is wearing an eye-catching cocktail ring over your gloves for that glamorous vintage style.  Since THE colour for AW10 will be camel (which is great as it’s light enough to carry over into Spring 2011), you’ll be looking for a pearl or light coloured ring.  Here are some of my favourite choices, all available from Seasonsonline.

First up is this superb lavender pink sparkle ring, set in a gold tone with a beautiful enamel flower surrounded by diamantes. This ring is priced at only £5.99.

Next, we have a silver coloured domed facet clutched crystal ring with a snake-like design to the side and littered with diamantes.  Available for £8.99.

Finally, this eclectic brown crystal shield cocktail ring has an aged brass effect setting, containing brown tone crystal diamantes, multi tone stones and a central brown quartz.  You can bet no-one else will have a ring like this!  Priced at only £7.99.

You won’t find these outfits in high street stores yet, but you can get ahead before they arrive, and prices soar.  I found the gloves below on Ebay!

Imported from Hong Kong, Ebay shop “Avivabridal” does a wonderful range of evening gloves in all colours.  These ones are available for £7.99, with £3.95 p&P.  I think you’ll be lucky to find a pair under £20 in the next few weeks.

And just a quick note for those of us who are slightly more curvaceous – corset-style tops and flared skirts will also be a la mode this season, so we can make the most of what we have!  Don’t you just love winter?!
