Girls with the “X Factor”

It’s been all go this week for our favourite X Factor girls, Cheryl Tweedy (formerly Cheryl Cole) and Dannii Minogue – and not for the same reasons.

Poor Cheryl is currently in hospital, having been diagnosed with malaria, which she is thought to have contracted during a recent holiday in Tanzania.  The Girls Aloud singer and X Factor presenter collapsed on Saturday afternoon, having felt unwell for several days.  She was rushed into intensive care at The Cromwell Hospital, London, which has a specific treatment centre for tropical diseases.

Malaria, if left untreated for too long, can lead to brain and kidney damage, being caused by a bite from an infected mosquito.

Although Cheryl is still very poorly, doctors are hopeful and she has been moved out of intensive care.

Meanwhile, much happier news for Dannii Minogue, who gave birth to Ethan Edward Smith yesterday.  Details are still sketchy, but it is thought that both mum and baby are doing very well.

We would like to congratulate Dannii and Kris, and wish Cheryl a speedy recovery.

In honour of both girls – one celebrating and one recuperating, we thought we’d base today’s jewellery blog on their individual and unique styles.

Cheryl’s pictured here in a pretty off the shoulder gypsy-style top, with a simple and very girly pink stone encrusted necklace.  A similar version, from Seasonsonline, shows that simple designs are far from showy, yet can compliment an outfit perfectly.

This burgundy and enamel pink shine flower set is placed on a silver tone chain, with pearlescent leaves and two tiny butterflies.  Complete with drop earrings, it’s available for £12.99.

Meanwhile, Dannii is pictured here pre-pregnancy, sporting a rather gorgeous heart-designed necklace.  We’ve got one similar to this but in an eyecatching pink (which is set to be THE colour of next season).

This wired heart pendant necklace is set on a black ball chain.  It’s intricate design and unusual texture has made it one of our best selling pieces – and, having seen a plethora of fuschia on the AW10 collection catwalks, you need to make sure you buy this now, and have it ready in your wardrobe for the new season.  You can pick one up from http://www.seasonsonline.co.uk for £5.99.
